Privacy Policy

Last Updated:

Template placeholder. This page is included to show layout and structure only. It is not legal advice and is not a real privacy policy. Replace this content with a policy reviewed by a qualified lawyer before publishing a live site, especially one that handles real user data.

This policy explains what information Thread ("we," "us," "our") collects, how we use it, and what choices you have. It applies to anyone who uses Thread ("the Service").

We've tried to write this in plain language rather than dense legal text. If anything is unclear, you can reach us at info@thread.com.

Information We Collect

Information you give us directly When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and workspace details. If you connect third-party tools (such as Notion, Slack, Jira, Figma, or Google Drive), we collect the access credentials needed to read from those tools on your behalf.

Information we collect automatically We collect basic usage data, like which features you use and how often, device and browser information, and log data such as IP address and timestamps. This helps us fix bugs and understand what's actually being used.

Information from connected tools Once you connect a third-party tool, Thread reads documents, messages, tickets, and meeting transcripts from that tool, only from the accounts and workspaces you've explicitly authorized. We don't access anything outside what you've connected.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate the Service, including generating answers, recaps, and drafts from your connected sources

  • Maintain and improve the Service, including fixing bugs and building new features

  • Communicate with you about your account, including service updates and support requests

  • Keep the Service secure, including detecting and preventing abuse

We do not sell your data. We do not use your connected workspace content to train models for other customers.

How We Share Information

We share information only in these situations:

  • With your team, if you're part of a shared workspace, other members of that workspace can see content you've connected or generated, based on your workspace's permission settings

  • With service providers, third parties who help us run the Service (hosting, analytics, customer support), bound by contracts that limit their use of your data to providing that service

  • For legal reasons, if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights and safety of Thread or our users

  • In a business transfer, if Thread is acquired or merged, your information may transfer as part of that transaction, we'll notify you if this happens

Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security review. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute protection, but we treat this seriously and will notify you if we become aware of a breach affecting your data.

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data and disconnect access to any linked tools within [30/60/90] days, except where we're required to retain certain records for legal or accounting purposes.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you

  • Correct inaccurate data

  • Delete your data

  • Export your data in a portable format

  • Withdraw consent for specific data processing, such as disconnecting a connected tool at any time

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@thread.com.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling some may affect how the Service works.

Children's Privacy

Thread is not intended for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we'll remove it.

International Data Transfers

If you're located outside Earth, your information may be transferred to and processed in Space, where our servers and service providers operate. We take steps to ensure your data is protected consistent with this policy wherever it's processed.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the Service changes. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or through the Service before the changes take effect.
